MTNL has launched its IPTV services in Delhi and Voice over Broadband in Mumbai on Crestel platform.
Crestel, as part of the IPTV solution, provides subscriber management, provisioning, mediation, rating, charging, billing, revenue sharing and a web-based self-care for customers. Crestel Provisiong & Medition is integrated with UTStarCom's MBoss middleware to render IPTV services.
MTNL drives its IPTV services on the postpaid model. Crestel's has enabled it to offer various service bouquets with different tariffs with minimum lead time. These bouquets are combined with offers like offering free movies on subscription of video on demand, with a subscription charge. Video categorization allows them to charge rates according to the selected video category. Different options are offered to customers to avail Set Top Boxes by going in for out-right purchase, fixed installments or on a periodic rental basis.

Crestel, as part of the VoBB solution, provides voucher management for managing prepaid calling cards, subscriber management, provisioning, mediation, rating, charging, billing and registration, renewal and web-based self-care for customers. Crestel is integrated with Verso's Class V softswitch to deliver VoBB services and MTNL's telecom billing system.
Targeting its vast broadband subscriber base in Mumbai, MTNL has used Crestel to come up with a new model of offering VoBB service, by merging prepaid and postpaid models. Customers going in for the plan are billed one-time for installation and on a recurring basis for ATA rentals. They need to go in for prepaid cards for using services, which offer bundled usage on calls made from SIP to SIP. Beyond the bundled usage, they are charged 10 paise per minute on such calls.

Crestel deployment includes EliteAAA, Rating & Charging, and web self-care. Crestel is also integrated with the mail server and MTNL's telecom billing system.
MTNL chose Crestel for providing its broadband service, Triband, on its existing copper wire infrastructure, to its basic telephony customers in Mumbai. Under this banner, MTNL offers time-based and volume-based plans to its subscribers with 2 email ids. Customers subscribing to volume-based plans are given benefits of happy hours at night where they enjoy free services whereas those going in for time-based plans are provided free minutes. The customers can also add email ids from the web-self care as per their need for more email ids. Fixed rentals are charged for static IP and dynamic IP allocation. With this implementation in place, MTNL has added 18,000 customers in a single month of its launch of Triband. Besides it is also future-ready and is planning to follow up its offerings with services such as VPN, multicasting, video conferencing, video-on-demand and broadcast application.
Deployment includes Elite AAA, Policy Management, Resource Manager and Subscriber Service Selection System. The system is integrated with Redback's NPM Server (NetOp Policy Manager).
Successful implementation of AAA NIB-III project has helped BSNL realize its mission to build a world-class infrastructure that will help to accelerate the Internet revolution in India. Crestel's AAA & SSSS provides BSNL to offer centralized Policy Management and Bandwidth on Demand from Subscriber Service Selection Portal. Subscribers can now select services of their choice from the SSSS portal and can also avail bandwidth on demand as per their needs. This has also opened new opportunities for BSNL to penetrate into this high revenue-making market & boost up the subscriber base and also catch attention of the potential content partners for broadcasting appealing solutions and services to subscribers.
Crestel voice billing solution provides subscriber management, number management, provisioning, mediation, rating, charging, billing, and a web-based self-care for customers. Crestel Provisiong is integrated with Yate soft-switch and its Mediation with Yate and Call Key soft-switches.
Away Phone's caters to those people who own a mobile phone in their country, who travel abroad and would like to avail subsidized calling rates when out of their country instead of making calls at international roaming rates offered by their service provider. They have 3 different plans targeting customers based on their frequency of going abroad and their duration of stay in a foreign country. They route calls made to the subscriber on a number provided by Away Phone using VoIP and charge at much lower rates than what normally applies in case of international roaming. The cost savings by using Away Phone services are displayed to the subscriber in their bills.
